Azure Platform Engineer Container Technology

At a glance

We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer with a deep understanding of containerization technologies, and their management in Azure from the ground up. 
You will use Azure’s services portfolio to architect and engineer the container solutions Developers will leverage, requiring you to approach and resolve problems from the perspective of a software developer. As a Senior Engineer, you will guide and help the team with its short- and long-term goals while helping formulate and defend the team's strategies and vision both internally and externally. 

Your job

You will join Stratus, a platform service team working within the Financial Services Cloud Platform (FSCP) tasked with the enablement of container technology within the bank and its governance. 
Azure products like Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Azure Container Apps (ACA) are, or will be, enabled in a secure context which enforces basic management and guardrails through policies and automation. You will contribute by guiding and consulting customers, and by working alongside your teammates to negotiate, enable and improve technologies and guidance.

Working environment

You will work in the Public Cloud Platform (PCP) department, which provides access and encourages the internal adoption of our Azure-based cloud platform. We build upon Azure Cloud Services to implement an internal platform that strives to enable our developers to use Azure products with ease and built-in security. You and your team will be the owner of one or more of them, and as such you will be responsible for their design, implementation and development. You will work closely together with the other teams to deliver value to our consumers and business teams. 

Your profile


We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer that meets the following profile:  

Containerization: must be interested in containers and knowledgeable about their creation, inner workings, lifecycle management and orchestration. The deeper the better. 
Hands-on expertise in Docker is required. 

DevOps: must feel comfortable with automation and the systems and tools used in a cloud environment (Linux, containers, Infrastructure as code, GitOps). 
Shift-left, service-oriented mentality and a strong will to grow are necessary. 
Being able to create one’s own tool by programming is preferred. 

Familiarity with scripting is a must. 
Familiarity with one or more programming language (Golang and Python preferred) 

Azure: proven experience using services and implementing solutions in Azure (+ 3 years). 
Microsoft Azure Certified Solution Architect certification is preferred. 
Familiarity with Azure tools is preferred (Bicep/ARM, Azure DevOps). 

You have demonstrated strong stakeholder management skills in where you can advise and persuade and challenge internal stakeholders on containerization, orchestration, governance and best practices. 

Can and wants to act as a sparring partner and evangelist for the developer community. 

Must be able to translate business requirements into solutions and implement them into services or products. 



Collaboration: the candidate must be a team player and be able to work effectively with other people, also in other teams. One should foster an environment of trust and respect while defending one’s decisions. 

Communication: the candidate must be able to explain technical concepts to non-technical peers effectively. Must have the ability to communicate professionally and informally in English, both verbally and in writing. A no-nonsense mentality is preferred and being able to informally have fun with your colleagues is required. 

Problem-solving: the candidate must have a strong will to solve problems, possibly backed by strong skills for it. One should be able to think creatively and identify innovative solutions to complex challenges. Preference for simple solutions is a big plus. 

Adaptability: the candidate must be able to adapt to changing requirements, priorities and needs. They should be able to work under pressure and take ownership of challenges and opportunities. 

Personal description: 

Must dare and be able to technically challenge stakeholders about solutions, designs and implementations. 

Not an SRE, not a pure software engineer, but someone in between with an emphasis on software engineering.
