Senior Business Consultant - Credit Policy Engine

At a glance

Within Lending Transformation, we are building a future‑proof Credits Policy Engine that automatically determines whether new credit applications fit within ABN AMRO’s policy framework. This capability is key to enabling faster, more consistent and compliant credit decisions — now and in the future.

The initial focus is on automated policy checks at credit origination. Over time, this capability will expand towards Monitoring, Policy Adherence and Scorecard‑as‑a‑Service. To support this growth, we are setting up a new team within the Credit & Collateral Lifecycle Grid. We are looking for a Senior Business Consultant who wants to contribute to shaping this capability.

Your job

As a Senior Business Consultant, you play a central role in translating credit policies and business objectives into a scalable, automated policy engine. You operate at the intersection of policy, business, data and technology, ensuring that policy checks are implemented correctly, transparently and consistently across credit processes and systems.

You work closely with stakeholders from Credits, Risk, Product Management and IT, and contribute to both delivery and longer‑term capability development in an agile environment.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Translating credit policies and business objectives into clear functional requirements for the Credits Policy Engine
  • Acting as a bridge between policy, business, data and technology
  • Defining and prioritising automated policy checks within credit origination
  • Working with Risk, Credits and IT to ensure policy checks are correctly embedded in systems and processes
  • Contributing to the roadmap for future capabilities such as Monitoring, Policy Adherence and Scorecard‑as‑a‑Service
  • Supporting refinement, testing and validation of policy logic together with stakeholders
  • Actively contributing to a scalable, flexible and future‑proof solution

Working environment

You will work within the Credit & Collateral Lifecycle Grid, part of Lending Transformation. The Grid is responsible for enabling the full credit lifecycle, from origination to monitoring and collateral management, and for shaping the future credit landscape of ABN AMRO.

You will join a professional, multidisciplinary environment with business developers and IT  engineers. As this is a growing area, you will have the opportunity to help shape both the solution and the way of working.

Your profile

You enjoy working on complex credit‑related challenges and are comfortable operating in a dynamic environment. You are able to structure complex topics into manageable increments for delivery, connect stakeholders effectively, and manage different perspectives towards well‑founded decisions and implementable solutions.

We are looking for someone with:

  • A proactive and analytical mindset, with strong stakeholder management skills
  • A relevant university degree (e.g. economics, finance, business administration or similar)
  • 10+ years of experience as a Business Developer, Business Analyst or similar role, preferably within banking or credits
  • Affinity with credit policies, credit processes and risk management
  • Experience working in agile / scrum environments
  • The ability to explain complex topics in clear, plain language
  • Motivation to contribute to a compliant, sustainable and future‑proof credit platform

Experience with rule‑based decisioning, credit systems or policy frameworks is a plus.

We are offering

If you are looking for a role where you can shape how credit policy is translated into scalable, automated decisioning, this is your opportunity to make tangible impact — both in delivery today and in building a future-proof lending capability. You will work at the intersection of business, risk and technology, contributing to solutions that are critical for consistent and compliant credit processes. We value your experience and perspective, and offer you the space to influence decisions, collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment and grow within and beyond your expertise, depending on your ambitions and drive.

In addition, we offer:

  • An attractive gross monthly salary (min. Eur. 6.066 – max Eur. 8.666) based on a 36 hour work week, including holiday allowance and a flexible benefit budget. A 40 hour work is also possible.
  • An excellent pension scheme, ensuring that you are well prepared for the future.
  • Flexibility in working: working from home is possible in consultation with your team and depending on your role. We will provide an ergonomic home office setup for you.
  • Plenty of room for relaxation with five weeks of vacation per year, supplemented by two mandatory days off. You can also purchase up to four additional weeks of vacation annually.
  • Five “Banking for better days”: extra days off that you can use for personal development or volunteer work.
  • Personal development is key: you receive a development budget of €1,000 per year, which can accumulate up to €3,000.
  • An annual public transport pass with free public transportation throughout the Netherlands for both business and private use.
