ABN AMRO Global Markets is the heart of Corporate Banking and consists of Equity Capital Markets (ECM), Debt Capital Markets (DCM), Foreign Exchange (FX) Sales & Trading, Fixed Income and Derivatives (FID) Sales & Trading, and Product Management & Strategy (PM&S). With over 200 colleagues, we support clients on the purchase and sale of financial products and services, such as securities or currencies. Moreover, we assist our clients with a listing (IPO) or the issuance of bonds. Our clients vary from private banking to (large) corporate clients, public sector and financial institutions. We carry out transactions from our dealing rooms in Amsterdam, New York, Frankfurt, London, and Paris. As Global Markets Trainee, you’ll be on top of the market, meeting with internal and external clients on a daily basis while structuring the best deals for our clients.

Tailor made rotation programme with rotations of approximately 3 months in departments such as FID Sales & Trading, FX Sales & Trading, DCM, ECM, Quant desk, Sustainable Finance, PM&S, Group Economics. There is also the opportunity to rotate in other Corporate Banking teams and to go abroad on an international rotation (Frankfurt, Paris, London, New York.

Learning curve

Your first 5 weeks at ABN AMRO starts with an Corporate Banking Traineeship introduction programme at Nyenrode Business University, where together with other trainees you will get to know the bank. During this period, you familiarise yourself with the (corporate) bank and participate in a training programme that includes both professional and personal development sessions. After completing the 5-week introduction programme, you will start the Global Markets rotation programme. Over the course of 24 months, you will work in different teams on the dealing room and get the chance to branch out into one of the other departments within the Corporate Bank or work abroad, thereby broadening your knowledge and network. After 24 months, you are ready to start in a team that best matches your skills and ambitions.

Start date

The traineeship start twice a year, in March and September. The vacancy will open approximately 3 to 4 months before the start date.

Are you/do you have?

  • Strong motivation to work for ABN AMRO and in Global Markets.
  • A recent University Master graduate with no more than two years of work experience.
  • Proven affinity with financial markets and interest in investment products.
  • Quick learner with strong communication/analytical skills.
  • Ambitious, eager to lean and keen to explore different teams.

How does the application process work?
