Data & Business Analytics Intern

At a glance

Are you a Bachelor's or Master's degree student in a scientific or technology‑related discipline at a Dutch university or HBO? Are you eager to start your career within the IT department of a well‑respected banking institution? If you have a genuine passion for technology, data, and innovation in the financial sector, this internship may be exactly what you are looking for.

ABN AMRO’s I&T Wealth Management & Corporate Banking department is seeking a motivated Data & Business Analyst Intern to join our DevOps team within Financial Markets. This is the ideal opportunity for someone who can analyse large datasets, apply statistical techniques with confidence, and translate analytical findings into actionable insights that support business success. You will work with data, Python, and counterparty credit risk measurements, gaining hands‑on experience in a dynamic and innovative environment where you can learn, contribute, and grow.

Your job

  • Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their needs and translate these requirements into scalable and effective IT solutions.
  • Support the development of technology that directly enables counterparty credit risk processes within the Financial Markets domain.
  • Ensure that data used for forecasting, operational reporting, and regulatory purposes is accurate, reliable, and consistently available.
  • Uphold high standards for data quality to ensure stakeholders can rely on insights and reporting derived from the underlying datasets.
  • Contribute to the implementation, configuration, and maintenance of credit risk applications to ensure they perform smoothly and meet business expectations.
  • Assist in resolving technical and functional issues related to credit risk systems, helping maintain stability and compliance.
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and metrics that provide actionable insights and improve the efficiency of workforce and operational reporting.
  • Help optimise data flows, analytical processes, and reporting capabilities to better support decision‑making within the Financial Markets organisation.

Your working environment

You will be working in a fast‑paced environment that reflects the dynamic nature of the financial markets. Within ABN AMRO, Financial Markets plays a central role in the bank’s growth strategy, with a strong focus on innovation, digital transformation, and global reach. You will join the Agile Counterparty Credit Risk team, an energetic and internationally oriented DevOps team that supports users across the globe. Here, you will collaborate with skilled professionals from both business and IT, contribute to improving critical risk processes, and gain hands‑on experience in an environment where technology and finance come together to drive meaningful impact.

Your profile

  • You possess strong analytical skills and can visualise, articulate, and break down both complex and straightforward problems using logical reasoning and sound decision‑making.
  • You have an educational and/or practical background in data science, business analysis or related fields and are comfortable working with Python.
  • You work in an organised and methodical manner, and you can adapt quickly to changing priorities and fast‑paced situations.
  • You collaborate effectively with different types of stakeholders and can build constructive working relationships across business and IT departments.
  • You show a high level of commitment, professionalism, and eagerness to learn even when working under pressure or dealing with tight deadlines.
  • You have advanced written and verbal English communication skills and can convey information clearly and professionally.
  • You are available for a one-year long internship starting as soon as possible - not later than 01/04/2026 - and will be enrolled in a Dutch educational institution (HBO or university) for the entire duration of the internship.

What we offer

  • A personal work laptop to support your development and daily tasks.
  • Monthly internship compensation of €750.
  • An informal, multicultural, and highly professional work environment, where you will collaborate with experienced data analysts working alongside finance, business, and IT specialists.
  • Membership in the Young ABN AMRO Community, giving you access to social events, networking opportunities, workshops, and activities to help you integrate into the bank and connect with other young professionals and interns.
