Market Surveillance Officer

The Market Surveillance Officer is responsible for Trade and Order Surveillance of the ABN AMRO Clearing’s client activity on the UK and European markets.
The role will be based either in London or Amsterdam, and positioned in the Market Surveillance & AML Team within the 1st Line Risk Department. The role reports to the Regional Head of Market Surveillance & AML based in Amsterdam, whereas team members are based in both London and Amsterdam and as such the role may require occasional business travel to London or Amsterdam. If based in London, there will be a local reporting line into 1st Line function for HR purposes.
Your job
The regional Market Surveillance & AML team is responsible for Trade and Order Surveillance, Transaction Monitoring and Transaction Filtering. The present role will focus specifically on Trade and Order Surveillance, with the other tasks discharged by colleagues in the Amsterdam office. The team reports to the European Chief Risk Officer based in Amsterdam.
o Trade and order surveillance: Handling alerts on T+1 basis, including alert review, investigation, escalation, and reporting, as appropriate.
o Assist in the annual review and calibrations,
o Engage with key stakeholders in Compliance and Middle Office/Technology on day-to-day work, system and data delivery, and resolving any issues impeding daily work;
o Assist and contribute to reporting and improving the existing MI and data analytics.

Your profile
o Ideally degree educated, or a strong academic record;
o Fluent English.
o Relevant Trade Surveillance experience;
o Strong understanding of Market Abuse behaviours and trading patterns;
o Strong background in exchange-listed products; Equities and Commodities;
o Demonstrated working knowledge of Nasdaq’s NTS/SMARTS surveillance software for trade surveillance;
o Solid understanding of market abuse regulations in Europe and UK (MAR and REMIT);
o Strong Excel skills;
o A team player with strong written and verbal communication skills;
o Experience in calibration and annual review process would be an asset;
o Experience in working on MARA Risk Assessments would be an asset;
o Experience in reporting and MI collation would be an asset.
