Your job

As Risk Manager Platforms & Technology Risk, you apply your expertise to identify and analyse shortcomings in platform and technology processes, services, controls and systems. You will:

  • Provide independent oversight of assigned platform and infrastructure areas, including their resilience, secure configuration, maintenance and lifecycle management;
  • Identify and analyse shortcomings in processes, services, controls and systems and assess their implications for the technology risk profile;
  • Perform risk assessments and reviews within defined platform and infrastructure areas, including cloud services, networks, operating environments and foundational technologies;
  • Advise on and coordinate the handling of less complex platform and technology risk issues and cases at tactical level;
  • Involve relevant adjacent disciplines, such as Technology, Operations, Information Security, Architecture, Cyber Security and Business Continuity, when determining practical solutions;
  • Develop improvement proposals for identified control weaknesses and independently implement approved improvements within the agreed scope;
  • Challenge first-line assessments, control evidence, remediation actions and risk acceptances within defined assignments, and clearly document conclusions and follow-up actions;
  • Monitor agreed remediation and improvement actions and escalate material delays, gaps or inconsistencies;
  • Follow relevant developments in infrastructure, cloud, platform engineering, technology risk and regulation, share applicable practices and identify opportunities for improvement within the assigned focus area;
  • Translate technical findings into clear risk observations, recommendations and reporting for operational and tactical stakeholders;
  • Build an effective internal network and use own analyses to guide activities and advice;
  • Share knowledge and practical experience with colleagues and encourage stakeholders to take action on agreed improvements.

Working environment

Part of the CRO IT & Cyber function

ABN AMRO works with the three lines of defence model. Within Risk Management, CRO IT & Cyber provides second-line oversight of IT risk, information security and cyber security, third-party and outsourcing risk, business continuity and physical security risk. These areas increasingly converge into digital and operational resilience. The Platforms & Technology Risk team provides independent oversight of the resilience, security and control of the bank’s core platforms, infrastructure and technology services.

Your profile

You are an experienced professional with solid expertise in platform and technology risk and a sound understanding of infrastructure, platforms, cloud services, networking and IT management processes. You can analyse shortcomings, determine their risk implications and translate findings into practical and achievable improvements. You work independently within a defined area, involve adjacent disciplines where needed and take ownership of implementing approved improvement proposals.

You combine analytical ability with sound judgement and a collaborative approach. You listen to stakeholders, adapt your advice to their needs and start an open dialogue when risks or the bank’s interests are not sufficiently addressed. You share relevant practices and developments with colleagues and help others move agreed actions forward.

  • University-level working and reasoning ability, preferably supported by a degree in IT, information management, engineering or a related field;
  • Relevant experience providing advice within technology, IT risk, information security, IT audit or a closely related discipline;
  • Experience identifying and analysing technology-risk or control shortcomings and translating these into practical improvement proposals;

  • Relevant certifications, or active development towards certification, in IT risk management, information security, cloud, IT audit and/or service management;
