At a glance

You give direction to the risk management practice that helps ABN AMRO stay digitally resilient. As Head of IT & Cyber Risk Management, you lead a team of risk professionals and drive a consistent, data-driven approach to IT risk, cyber security, operational resilience and regulatory compliance. You combine strategic insight with practical execution, provide trusted advice to senior stakeholders and help shape decisions that strengthen the bank's resilience in a rapidly changing digital landscape.

Your job

You lead the Risk, Control & Data team within CRO IT & Cyber and help define how the bank manages and monitors technology and cyber-related risks. You translate strategy, regulations and business priorities into clear frameworks, actionable plans and reliable insights. Together with your team, you improve risk management practices, strengthen control effectiveness and provide senior management with clear information for decision-making.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of risk professionals and create clarity on priorities and ownership.
  • Drive improvements in risk assessments, control testing, issue management and reporting.
  • Strengthen data-driven risk management through automation, dashboards and management information.
  • Challenge risk performance using data from the first line and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Prepare concise board-level papers, presentations and decision proposals.

Working environment

You join CRO IT & Cyber, the second-line risk function responsible for oversight of IT risk, cyber security, outsourcing risk, business continuity and physical security risk. These areas increasingly come together in the bank's approach to digital and operational resilience.

As a member of the CRO IT & Cyber Management Team, you work closely with senior leaders, risk specialists and business stakeholders across the organisation. The team focuses on consistent risk practices, high-quality reporting and effective collaboration with the first line of defence. You operate in a professional environment where expertise, constructive challenge and continuous improvement play a central role. This position is based in the Netherlands and offers close collaboration with colleagues across the bank.

Your profile

You are an experienced people manager who brings a clear vision on risk management and knows how to turn that vision into practical results. You create structure in complex environments, build strong relationships with stakeholders and communicate confidently at senior levels. You encourage collaboration, support growth within your team and maintain focus on what matters most. Your approach combines analytical thinking, sound judgement and the ability to translate complex topics into clear messages.

You also bring:

  • A university degree, preferably in IT, Information Management or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in IT risk, cyber security, operational resilience, outsourcing risk or a related discipline.
  • Experience leading, coaching and developing professional teams.
  • Strong knowledge of risk management frameworks, controls and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders and executive-level governance.
  • Relevant certifications in IT risk management, cyber security and/or IT audit.
  • Professional proficiency in English.
