You combine analytical thinking with strong communication skills and make a visible impact on how we manage risk across the bank. If you enjoy navigating complex situations, shaping change, and working in an international environment, this role offers an excellent next step in your career.

Your job

You take the lead in reviewing credit risk activities across the credit lifecycle and translate your insights into practical improvements. You analyse trends, test the quality of credit decisions, and advise senior leaders on risks and opportunities. You also:

  • Conduct thematic reviews, back‑tests and post‑mortem analyses.
  • Test the quality and effectiveness of credit proposals and rating decisions.

Working environment

You join Credit Risk Control & Oversight, part of ABN AMRO’s Credit Risk organisation. This team oversees the bank’s credit risk framework and safeguards the quality of credit risk management across all client units. Your colleagues combine expertise in risk, data, analysis and regulatory topics, and work closely with other Credit Risk teams such as Policies, Collateral, Analytics & Reporting, and Decisioning. Your base office is Amsterdam, in an international environment where collaboration, openness and continuous improvement matter. Although we work hybrid, many team activities take place on site to stay connected and share knowledge. You join a team that values clear communication, diverse perspectives and practical solutions.

Your profile

You enjoy navigating complex questions, asking sharp but constructive questions, and bringing people together around improvements. You feel comfortable advising senior stakeholders and adapting your communication style to different audiences. You take initiative, stay curious and enjoy working in an environment that changes and evolves.

  • 5–8 years of experience in credit risk management or regulatory oversight (1LoD, 2LoD or 3LoD).
  • Knowledge of credit risk underwriting and monitoring, relevant regulations, and financial markets.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, including data‑driven reviews.
  • Experience with quality assurance or effectiveness testing.
  • Strong project management skills and proven stakeholder management experience.
  • A proactive mindset and professional communication skills.
  • CFA/FRM/PRM is a plus, not a requirement.
  • Fluency in English.

Behaviour we want to see within Risk Management:

  • Debate, debate, decide - I gain different perspectives on impact throughout the value chain. I then take the decision, accept the decision and respect single accountability & responsibility.
  • Keep it simple - I start with the goal, I set well-defined requirements, I proactively address dependencies, I seek feasibility in plans and I don’t overpromise.
  • Embrace Good - I don't go for perfect and I do what is right and compliant.
  • From being nice to being kind - I ask and act on feedback, I am open about the good, the bad and the ugly. I reflect, I adapt and I move forward.
  • No excuses, stay the course - I take the lead, I own it. I act quickly, I standardize progress updates to ensure timely support and I escalate.
