Context of the job

ABN AMRO Asset Based Finance, N.V., located in Utrecht and Den Bosch (the Netherlands), is internationally cross border organised and has operating companies in Germany, Belgium, France, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.  ABF is designed as a specialised business company within ABN AMRO.  In the UK, the company consists of about 190 FTEs. In the UK, ABF is positioned between the high street banks and the independents, with the balance sheet and structuring capabilities of a high street bank and the flexibility of an independent. ABF’s market share in UK is just over 2%, with the ambition to grow to 5%.   

ABF provides Leasing and Commercial Finance/Asset Based Lending solutions to customers in all segments: SME, corporates and large corporates including international clients. In the Netherlands this is mainly to ABN AMRO clients, in other countries this is mainly to non ABN AMRO clients. In the smaller end of the segments, the focus in on having a digital offering, with standardised and harmonised products and processes. In the larger segments, the focus is on a coverage model, with a modular product offering that allows for bespoke solutions. 
 

Your job

The Relationship Management department focuses on the long term pursuit of commercial consolidation and expansion of client relationships while seeking to strike an appropriate balance between the interests of the client and Commercial Finance. Relationship Management are bound by the laws and regulations governing financial service providers, by the policy of ABF in the relevant country.

Purpose of the job

A Relationship Manager is responsible for the client relationship and management of the assigned portfolio by acting as discussion partner for the director/owner and/or controller of each account and providing advice and guidance in connection with financial and business issues, striking a careful balance between the commercial interests and ABF's risk policy and for cross selling of products and services within the relevant segment.

Gross Portfolio income: £2-£5m
30 – 45 clients
Clients will have sales of between £2.5 and £25m 
Underwriting authority linked to local credit policy guidelines

Focus of the role is;
To aid client retention and growth through building strong relationships with them and addressing the clients needs utilizing the ABF product suite through a deep understanding of their business and the marketplace whilst balancing the needs and interests of ABF
Assisting with on-boarding of new clients alongside Business Development colleagues and attracting new to ABN AMRO clients through leveraging relationships with clients and Key Business Introducers alike

ABN AMRO UK is part of the Corporate Banking business line and operates the following businesses in the UK:

•    Corporate and Institutional Banking which includes Corporate Banking, Clearing, Global Markets - Sales & Trading and Financial Institutions 
•    Commercial Banking which includes Asset Based Finance and International Desk, which provides transactional banking services

Our business lines are supported by a number of functions such as Risk, Compliance, Legal, IT, Finance (Including Tax), Business Management and Human Resources. We currently employ approx. 380 people in the UK.

Your profile

Required level and content of education

  • Awareness of cultural differences
  • Knowledge of business economics at Bachelor Level or 2 years plus Relationship Management experience in Financial services industry 
  • Knowledge of Receivables finance and ABL preferred
  • Knowledge of financial services and the (inter)national business market
  • Knowledge of the strategy, products and services of ABF and the specific segments in which the work is being executed.

Required employment experience/skills

  • Interpersonal skills to build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with clients, Key Business Introducers, regulators and auditors and other stakeholders.
