At a glance

We are looking for a new colleague in the Regulations & Policies team with a general role in monitoring, analyzing and mapping prudential regulation applicable to banks. Regulations are changing rapidly and can have a significant impact on the strategy we adopt, the decisions we make and the way we work as a bank. Your role is to support the regulatory change process and assist in providing regulatory scans and supporting the team in mapping regulatory changes and requirements to the internal policy framework and calculation standards. If you are interested in the various forms of risk that banks face and how regulations aim to ensure that banks remain financially stable in an ever changing environment, this role is an excellent step in your career.

Your job

Your role as an Intern and Junior Advisor will be very diverse and will range from assisting in the preparation of the bank wide newsletters and briefings to Senior Management on the management of regulatory risk, participating in multi-disciplinary (project-)setting to support larger regulatory change processes to ensuring internal policies are mapped to regulation. You will get the chance to build up considerable knowledge on the European regulatory framework and gain insight in risk management within banking. The vacant position offers opportunities to develop your communication, stakeholder management and project management skills. Your direct colleagues will support you in your personal development and knowledge gathering.

Your working environment

Within ABN AMRO, Regulations & Policies offers you a dynamic, international and informal working environment. Our team is part of the Enterprise Risk Management Network of the Central Risk Management Division and shares capacity and knowledge within that network. Central Risk Management is at the heart of ABN AMRO’s Risk Management and responsible for a broad spectrum of topics that have a direct link with banking regulation and the bank’s (risk) strategy. Examples include stress testing, enterprise risk, sustainability risk, capital advisory, risk appetite and risk policies. Central Risk Management offers great opportunities to learn more about the set-up of ABN AMRO’s risk management.

Your profile


You are a great candidate to become our new colleague, if you meet the following description:

  • You have an affinity with banking and risk management in general and policies and regulations in particular.
  • You have excellent communications skills, especially in writing. Fluency in English is required. Fluency in Dutch is an advantage.
  • You have the competence to explain details of prudential regulation to colleagues with various backgrounds and experiences.
  • You have experience in managing stakeholders and engaging in constructive discussions.
  • You have a pro-active, flexible and result-driven personality and are an enthusiastic team player;
  • You have an academic educational background, and you have at least graduated with a Bachelors in finance, accounting or law.


We will evaluate candidates based on their individual qualities as well as on the basis of their added value to the skills, knowledge and diversity of the team.
