An exciting opportunity to take part in our 12 week Summer Internship within the Data team, this internship will begin on June 22nd for 12 weeks. 

The Data team resides within the Chief Operating Office, under the guidance of the Chief

Operating Officer.

  • There are 3 members of the UK Data team:
    • Data Governance & Management Lead
    • Data Governance & Management Consultant
    • Data Analyst

The Data Intern reports to the Data Governance & Management Lead within the COO. There will also be a link into the Head Office Data teams for information and to ensure strong communication lines.

Your job

Aligned with the group wide strategy and mission, it is the objective of the UK Data Team to:

  1. Add value to data users in the UK Branch (and the rest of AAB Group) by improving the quality of internal reporting, data insight to drive strategy and regulatory reporting.
  2. Ensure control of the UK Bank Branch data risk by understanding and implementation of relevant policies as well as ability to report against the group determined KRIs in the risk appetite statement.
  3. Absorb and deliver upon all data related projects and programs initiated out of the group.

The Data Intern will be responsible for supporting the embedment of the group data strategy within the UK business, ensuring robust data governance and management practices. The role focuses on enabling data-driven decision-making, maintaining high data quality, and ensuring the organization remains in control of client administration systems for both Transaction Banking Hub (TBH) UK and Corporate Business Clients (CBC) UK businesses through monthly monitoring, data analysis, and Management Information (MI) production.

The data team in the UK will support the business with local regulatory reporting, control monitoring and data analytics. This will ensure that we maintain the UK Branch’s license to operate by enabling the UK business lines to meet ongoing regulatory expectations and compliance obligations as well as adhering to the Bank’s policies and procedures.

There will also be a change aspect to this role as enhancements are made to processes to further develop the efficiency towards our clients and stakeholders, as well as a training component to ensure that all members of the team have the requisite knowledge to undertake the activities.

         Responsibilities

The Key responsibilities for the Data Intern role are:

  • Support the implementation and embedment of the Data Governance and Data Management Frameworks across UK businesses.
  • Support data stewards and stakeholders to ensure data is fit-for-purpose and risks are controlled.
  • Support the maintenance of an in-control position regarding client administration systems for TBH UK and CBC UK through monthly monitoring, data analysis, and MI production.
  • Develop written protocols, working agreements, and process flows.
  • Organize and facilitate data management according to ABN AMRO standards, including:
    • Data is described in a business understandable manner.
    • Data lineage and Business Data Model is in place.
    • Data is registered (incl. ownership and related requirements).
    • Data is made available via the enterprise-wide data platform and is made available according to its purpose, in line with policies.
    • Data is monitored by data quality checks.
    • Data (quality) issues and requests are prioritised and structurally resolved.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare/present data with supporting context and commentary.
  • Proactively identify improvement opportunities in MI coordination.

Your working environment

Your profile

This internship will suit somone who has a keen interest on data and data framework.
