Senior Backend Engineer

At a glance

We are looking for a talented and motivated senior backend engineer to strengthen our team. You’ll be joining a full-stack DevOps team where you’ll be on top of building the bank’s website-as-a-service platform.

Your job

The PIEoneers is the team behind many open domain websites, including,,,, etc. As the team manages many websites and more are being migrated, we are looking for someone who can design and build the backend in an efficient and automated way to serve our goal of becoming the bank’s website provider.

Your job will be to design, develop and maintain the backend microservices serving the application. You will align with your fellow backend engineers, frontend engineers, content editors and platform engineers to shape the backend so that the content flows in a proper, secure, and performant way.

Your working environment

Our team is part of the Digital Channel Capabilities grid and focuses on enabling digital content solutions through our CMS SaaS platform (Contentful) and enabling a website-as-a-service platform. We’re located on the Gustav Mahlerlaan in Amsterdam where we meet (at least) once or twice a week. Our team follows a hybrid model, with some of our engineers working full-time from Poland.

Your profile

Must have:

  • Extensive experience with Java, Spring Boot and modern frameworks
  • Experience with microservices architecture and Docker
  • Experience with cloud technologies (preferably Azure)
  • Knowledge of coding standards and best practices ex: SOLID principle, patterns, testing etc.

Good to have:

  • Experience with CMS systems like Contentful, Sitecore or Tridion.
  • Experience with testing frameworks (JUnit, Jmeter etc.)
  • Experience with CI/CD Tooling and DevOps principles
  • Experience with Kubernetes
  • Experience with API design (REST, GraphQL)
  • Knowledge about networking
