As part of the growth ambitions of Transaction Banking (home to core banking products such as accounts, savings, payments and trade finance), you will realize future-proof, digital and cost efficient Trade Finance customer & employee journeys. Specifically, the Connectivity team delivers APIs to modernize the Trade Finance connectivity layer and enable various journeys, services and reporting needs.

Your job

As Product Owner Trade Finance IT Connectivity, you ensure prioritization of the backlog of the team with the drive to achieve results. To do so, four elements are key in your job.

  • In close collaboration with fellow Product Owners, the IT Lead, business and IT colleagues you enjoy to achieve tangible results. These results contribute to the objectives and key results we set within the Trade Finance franchise.
  • Consequently, alignment of your initiatives with your stakeholders is fundamental in the job. And you communicate and articulate your vision, priorities and drivers clearly with your stakeholders. These are the team itself, the other Trade Finance teams with whom you work very closely and the wider organization that is required to be aligned on your roadmap.
  • You understand the application landscape, the application lifecycle drivers and needs, the future state architecture and you are able to synthesize this into priorities and a roadmap.
  • You support the team by being transparent and clear, by actively supporting the removal of impediments and by embracing a learning culture in which you develop yourself as well as contribute to the development of colleagues.

Working environment

The Trade Finance Connectivity team is part of the Trade Finance area within the Grid Transaction Services. The Grid also contains two others areas: Embedded Payments and Payment Instruments & Merchant services and serves all customer segments. The Product Owner Trade Finance Connectivity reports into the Grid Owner of Transaction Services. The Lead Product Owner Trade Finance drives the Trade Finance area and is your closest ally.

The Trade Finance business currently supports propositions such as Letters of Credit, Documentary Collections and Guarantees. It enables business customers to reduce (payment) risks whilst doing (international) business. Although the Trade Finance business historically still has quite some paper-based operational handling, digitalisation of (parts of) the customer journey is a fundamental part of our ambitions. Consequently, exposing various services via APIs is a crucial element of this ambition built on top of the Trade Finance Core Platform which is delivered by an external partner.

Your profile

You take a keen interest in execution of (IT) delivery. You understand the specialists and their expertise and you find it important that the experts in your team get the best out of themselves and each other and you empower the team with clear scope & mandate to do so. You are involved and motivated and able to achieve goals. You feel comfortable keeping relevant stakeholders connected. It is no pre-requisite that you understand the Trade Finance business in detail.

  • Experience as Product Owner with IT teams focussed on custom development, system integration, legacy modernization and API development
  • You are not afraid to chip-in on technical conversations in order to drive progress
  • Experience with the Agile way of working (including scaling ceremonies and events), and experience with the Scrum and DevOps method
  • You are a result oriented person and you follow through on your commitments – getting projects straight to the finish line
  • Good stakeholder management skills with an open and honest communication style
  • You can create order in chaos, providing structure to the team and stakeholders
  • You are an energetic person who combines thinking and doing
